What Now?

I had a rough day at work this weekend and vented on here. Sorry guys, you probably don’t care. I e-mailed my Chief requesting an entire month leave, since I’m part-time this shouldn’t be hard to honor. I did not receive a response, which I figured I wouldn’t until Monday when he’s back in the office. I know the e-mails go to his phone, but I figured he either wouldn’t read it or wouldn’t respond until he is back in the office. I pushed it out of my mind the best I could and moved on with my weekend.

Today I spent some time with my totally awesome man, we went geocaching at some pretty awesome parks. It was HOT! But still had fun. Only got about 1/8 of this park that was a favorite of mine when I was little so I plan on going back asap. I can’t wait!! I hope to take my cousins with me too, that’ll be fun! We found a lot of really cool caches and all big ones too! Usually I get all micros, rarely does a park around here have this many containers with more goodies in them. I went searching for some trackables, found none though which was a bummer.

While we were out enjoying the day I heard my phone go off notifying me I got an e-mail which I usually ignore because e-mails come through all the time like crazy. Something told me to look at this one, so I did. It was a response from my Chief! He sent it from his office computer too! Meaning he may have been up there looking for me. This was his response:

“Employee”

I have no problem granting you this leave time. I’m not sure what type of issues you are having with other employees. This is the first time I have heard from you regarding any issues. I encourage you to contact me the next time you work (or before if you prefer) so that you can make me aware of the issues that are bothering you and I will do everything in my power to correct any problems that exist.

Thanks,
Chief Blank

That was nice of him. Now let’s brake this down, shall we…

  • “Not sure what type of issues you are having”…this could take all day if you want to hear it all.
  • “This is the first I have heard from you”…of course it is, I don’t go whining to the boss when every little thing happens and I’m not going to go whining to you now.
  • “I encourage you to contact me”…of course you do, it’s your job on the line if you don’t offer me this. I never said I wanted to discuss the issue, I just said there was one and I want a leave, end of story.
  • “I will do everything in my power to correct any problems”…once again, you’re required to say this. Does firing every asshole there fall “within your power”?? Just curious.

Let’s discuss here a bit why all these people I work with hate me so much. There seems to be a chronic case of “lazy” going around and it’s very contagious! Some people will actually lay there and let me clean around them!! That’s how bad the lazy is! They don’t do their dishes, don’t pick up after themselves, don’t clean anything, and bitch about having to run calls! WTF?! This is your JOB! I’m always cleaning, washing trucks, taking care of things around the station, working on trucks, fixing things, teaching CPR/First Aid, working PR events, going to schools to talk to kids…all the things our full time staff should be doing, but lazy has effected them too. Well, my fellow employees hate me for this because it makes them look bad. They also hate me for being chief’s “favorite”. I’m not the “favorite” and I sure as hell don’t get any special treatment, I’m just liked because I get my lazy ass up!

I grew up where if I didn’t get up and do the work I’ll get my ass beat, literally. You think I’m going to show up to a job that PAYS and NOT do the work I’m suppose to?? I don’t think so! Having good morals and work ethic has made my life at work a living hell, but you know what…when it comes time for promotion or a new job, who do you think will be more likely to get it? Not them, that’s for damn sure. Besides I just flat out feel bad and guilty if I’m not working when I’m getting paid to do so. Hate me all you want, I’m not changing the way I work because of your lazy and poor attitude.

Tomorrow I’m back to work and will have my meeting, I will keep you updated on how that goes. Good night all.

Lazy…A Common Illness

I try not to let the little stuff bother me but the pure laziness at work is driving me crazy! No one cleans! EVER!! Trucks stay bug covered for weeks, nothing gets wiped down, dirty dishes left in sink for weeks, no sweeping, no cleaning…it’s just gross!! Even worse is when it comes to the trucks and equipment! I hate germs but apparently my coworkers enjoy them because I came in after a week off this truck and cleaned it to find this…

This was after just a few wipes and only about 1/4 of the truck! WTF people?!?! Then after spending two hours cleaning and wiping down the entire inside I spent 3 hours scrubbing weeks worth of bugs off the front of the truck. I mean the lack of respect and work ethic is making me crazy! I bust my ass daily with very little help, especially none from the full time staff!! I can’t wait to start this new job, at least I will not be alone in my work and it will finally be appreciated! After 3 consecutive 13 hour days of cleaning, all trucks are bug free, backboards scrubbed and disinfected, patient compartment disinfected, all equipment wiped down, bay clean, station clean, bathrooms clean, and still found time to go on 12 ambulance calls.

All my hard work will be undone shortly because I am off until next Tuesday at the very earliest. Tomorrow the dentist will remove all my wisdom! : ( I am so not looking forward to that appointment! But at the same time I can’t wait to get this done and over with. They have never hurt me, ever, but they are coming in way wrong and the dentist wants them out now. Joy. Then after that a little more dental work I have been putting off. Then after all of that it’s back to the orthodontist for me.

I spent SIX years in braces and because my teeth are stubborn and everything moved (despite the retainers) the orthodontist decided to put the upper braces back on (for free). After just 3 months with them on my teeth are back to straight and look great. Oh and if they every say, “hey we’re going to just jump to the biggest wire to move them fast” I would like to tell you that is would be best if you PASS on that option!! I have never hurt from braces until that move! I went to my check up and they said my teeth look great, I asked when the braces come off. The answer to my question? “I’m not, in fact I want to put the bottom braces back on too and fix that as well.” Ugh!! But my teeth will look pretty again. I already look several years younger than I am (I’m 25 and still getting carded), so lets slap some braces on and make it even better! : ( Oh well, life.

Today while out on one of many calls at work I came across something that made me laugh.

That sign is about 4 feet by 4 feet and in case you are unable to read the writing it says, “Slow down or die.” Haha welcome to rural EMS! : ) I’m sorry sir but it seems you are going to have to kill us for running lights and sirens to someone’s emergency because I’m not slowing down. What really cracks me up about this is the road it is located on and I really wish now that I had taken a picture of it but since I didn’t you will have to do with my description.

Today I was working in our smallest ambulance (thank goodness for that on this call!) and had I had the biggest truck we would not have been able to get to the patient’s house let alone the patient. This road was JUST wide enough for the truck, most of the time the wheels were in the mud and not even on a road. Trees along most of the road which scratched all down the sides (nothing I could do to avoid that) and if another car had come one of us would have been backing up until we found a driveway and that person would not have been me…sorry but this ambulance doesn’t go in reverse! lol Oh, and also this road does not connect to each other, there are two different sections of this road, despite what google maps, gps, cell phones, map book, and everything says, this road is NOT a thru street! The huge trees and over grown woods prove this, don’t bother trying.

Tomorrow is surgery, then off for a few days. I’m warning you now, I will no doubt be bored so expect some postings…or probably a lot of postings if I’m feeling well. Good night world! Tomorrow I will be 4 teeth lighter.

Lazy Sunday

Yep, it’s one of those days, a cold, rainy, lazy Sunday. Nothing to do, nothing to watch, nothing to read, no where to go…it’s just one of those “blah, why did I get out of bed” kind of days. Unfortunately I do have to get up at some point and get myself ready for another day on the job. I love work and I’m probably one of the few out there that will say I truly do love work! But since this is a lazy Sunday, I’m not looking forward to actually getting up and getting ready for work. I just want to stay all warm snuggled up with my pups, having that lazy day. From time to time, I hate being so busy! But then a day comes along where I have nothing to do and I hate not being busy. I just can’t figure myself out.

At Christmas this year I realized that my mother and grandmother are too much alike! So much so that they bought me two of the same gifts! Not identical, but close. My grandma got me a sock monkey hat to match the scarf she got me last year and got me a firetruck puzzle…my mother bought me a hat too, not sock monkey, but just a plain blue and a firetruck puzzle too! Weird! Nothing like opening similar gifts right after each other. Below is a picture of the firetruck puzzle my grandma got me…this thing took SIX 5+ hour days and 8 different people to complete! It was no easy task! You want a seriously hard puzzle, here it is! Oddly enough, it was able to keep the attention of 3 ADHD kids…though I think it helped that all three of us were working on it together. lol

I got to spend the whole weekend with my favorite boy! : ) Rex, you sure are handsome my man! And in the back you can see my other two boys, Patches (the teddy) and Blizzard (the goat). My man got me the teddy for Christmas last year since he can’t be with me when I’m home and at work, so the teddy comforts me in his place. And the goat was acquired this Christmas from a donation. Usually Blizzard stays at my mans house, but this weekend I stole him since my man was stuck working. He shall be returned to his rightful place this evening.

This little pup below is my mom’s dog, Tasha. She’s more like a cat/rat/flee all in one. lol She’s not much like a dog at all! Loves being on your lap! Claws, bites, and barks to get you to rub her belly. Begs like no other dog I’ve ever seen! And don’t put your plate down, not even on the table and leave it because when you’re not looking this little thing will sneak up and grab it before you know it. She’s got vacuum powers! It’ll be sucked down before you know what happened. From time to time she may sneak into my blog, today seemed like a good time to let that happen.

I’m curious to know if anyone that reads this knows about geocaching. If you don’t, you seriously need to look it up! Especially if you have kids! My cousins, my man, friends…anyone I introduce it to LOVES it! Basically, it’s a world wide treasure hunt! Using GPS devices or your phones. People hide boxes or “logs” and you go find them. Signing up for an account is free. And you’ll be glad when you do. It’s a blast! I can bet you have walked by several geocaches and never knew it. Go to their website www.geocaching.com for full details, watch the videos, read the stories…you will love it! Especially if you are into the outdoors, it’s a lot of fun to add to your bike rides or hikes. Your kids will really love it! My cousins do! Here’s an example from this past week, I kidnapped them and we went geocaching, which is what they pick 99% of the time when I get them. Do yourself a favor and check it out! I haven’t found a person yet that doesn’t like it. If you want more information on it, just e-mail me. I’ve hidden several myself and I even have trackables out there being passed around.

Geocaching will take you to some amazing places, new beauties in your area, parks you probably didn’t know existed, new places along your travels…it’ll be sure to surprise you each time you go. I have many pictures from geocaching adventures that I’ll be sure to post in a blog soon, first I have to round them up and decide which are the best to share. Be watching for it though, it’s sure to come soon.
